Commercial Card
The term "commercial card" applies broadly to a special type of credit card issued to and used by corporations or government entities. For purposes of record keeping, expense tracking, and purchasing analysis, commercial cards return a greater level of detail (Level III detail) on the billing statements.

Beyond the normally supplied statement information, Level III line item data might include any of the following: item description, item quantity, item unit of measure, item total, item commodity code, item product code, item unit cost, and item VAT tax amount/rate. (The specific statement content may vary from card company to card company and can be more narrowly focused according to the type of commercial card issued. For instance a fleet commercial card might track fuel type and quantity.)

In addition to enhanced data tracking, commercial cards also incorporate a greater degree of usage controls than those present in a consumer card. These controls can be used, for instance, to restrict th e card to purchases with only given entities and to set specific spending limits.
